Maple Lane Spec
1322 Maple Lane marks the sixth collaborative residence between this architect and builder duo. Meetings and ideas fly at all hours as the two are neighbors and fellow tinkerers on many aspects of living, from local agriculture to skatepark design and construction. The mission with each project is to continue to refine those values most important to our local Midwest community, from efficient living to socially welcoming residences. While we prefer not to have a street facing garage, this house renders the lack-of-alleyway into lemonade by way of a street-loaded primary suite with the main entrance positioned slightly past that private space. Thus allowing for the sunken living room and social spaces to open not only to the back yard but also to the public park beyond. Views to the park can be experienced from the kitchen, dining room, living room, back porch, upstairs bedroom, and even immediately upon entering the front door! While the lot is a narrow 40 feet wide with 10 feet of combined side yard setbacks, the primarily single loaded corridor layout makes the efficiently allocated spaces well balanced between privacy and hosting potential. The roofline is ideal for future PV panels and the ICF crawl space will perform way above average in terms of energy needs.
